Man, it's been years. It's unfortunate that you had to hit the brakes on this because of COVID. I'll be honest, I find myself turning back to 0.0.8 pretty frequently in the face of the current AAA FPS shenanigans to keep it short.

If you find yourself picking this up again, you have my full support.

I was on the verge of a heart attack, even though I'm wired to fight in dangerous situations. Sucker got me in the back. Lucky me I got the body armor in the tunnels. The pistol works well to sic the guards for their more effective AR20.

Misc.: My character lunged forward when I was making for the body armor in the Abnormal side, making me think he was relieved to find some protection from whatever the heck THAT is.

Favorite weapon:

  • Normal - AR20. In mid-range accuracy is good enough, and aiming lets you pop shots at range, sidestepping the sniper almost.
  • Abnormal - SMG. The corruption wants to charge at you, so the SMG is the obvious choice here since they go faster than you.

First things first, the aesthetic is on point! Second, my GTX-670 is running at 25-30 FPS steady in bigger areas like the sewers or forest. 60FPS when at home base.

Oh, and the way health works confused me, as when I saw the HP, I expected it to dwindle instead of acting like a Paper Mario style health point.

Sewers: The sewers are a pretty good introduction to how exploration is rewarded. The environment interaction is also pretty fun.

Forest: Hoo boy. That tank in the beginning of the map? if it finds you (and it probably will), it'll lob grenade rounds your way until you get past the jumping puzzle, which is pretty interesting in execution minus getting hit with a series of lucky shots.

Then comes the blind forest part. Radar comes in clutch, but if you didn't know there would be enemies, prepare to fend them off if not beat them with the shotty because the rifle does jack to them besides stun.

Suggestions:
1. Limit the angle that the tank can shoot at so that you're safe when you're at the treetops.
2. I concur with Retsa that the ranged enemies don't really look for you, but I have been spotted once or twice in the sewers.
3. Have the shotgun use a more traditional walljump type detection for the secondary fire so you don't feel like you're trying to use a finnicky rocket jump.

I made the missile launcher work myself, and had more trouble with the grenade launcher as tanks and Lancers moved out of the way. The Lancers moreover sprinted away when I had my missile lock active, so less -12s in the face of a more devastating Lancer. Feathering your side to side movements helps with getting additional lockons on a single target.

Saw the update to the name. It'll really help those who knew this as Two Handed Mage prior to the rebrand.

I was wondering where this game went. It was originally called TWO HANDED MAGE, and when I noticed I wasn't pulling results after reinstalling, No WONDER it wasn't there, it was renamed to Imbalance. Can't wait to see what's improved.

It's been ages since this comment, but it works fine on an updated Win 10.

I'm going after the no-miss myself, see if there's anything beyond. I've already mapped the entire level out and I know I can make it.

No wonder it feels so familiar. Nothing is there for no reason, and it just drags you in that way. Never stop. You have caught my attention as a shmup aficionado.

I actually wanna know if there's any lore to this. How the heck did this happen anyways?

This was an oddball, primarily because I didn't know how it was gonna go down initially. However, it establishes the basis of Clerics and their job well, alongside the introduction of the main characters and how they go about ghostbusting. I've said this in the Paramedium 2 review, but I should reiterate: this is a well made blend of House of the Dead gunplay and heart-crunching horror. I managed to get away with some dings, but had I freaked out, which was hard not to do, I would've been a goner.


Overall, 8/10. I'm sure it'll be kickass, the full release on Itch and Steam.

I just played this thanks to the Self-Isolation event, and you somehow managed to mix House of the Dead style gunplay (or swordplay if you're Lance) with gut wrenching, heart wrenching horror! My heart was especially hard pressed, trying to stay calm and collected, lest I bite the dust to a wicked spirit.

As it is, 10/10.  I would definitely purchase the full release when it hits Itch and Steam.
